Asst. Prof. Iva Tuhtan Grgić actively participated in the Conference where she delivered a presentation titled “The Challenges of Harmonization in the Matter of Economic Exploitation of Maritime Domain with European Law”. The challenges of harmonisation in this field of Croatian law are numerous. However, the presentation was limited to the questions arising from the obligation to harmonize Croatian law with Directive 2014/23/EU on the Award of Concession Contracts and Directive 2006/123/EC on services in the internal market. The question of delimitation of the scope of application of those two directives was raised, taking into account the practice of the Court of the European Union on one side, as well as the national framework regarding concessions (Concession Act), already implementing Directive 2014/23/EU on concessions. Since the new Maritime Domain and Seaports Act is in the drafting procedure it is hoped that the legislator will accept the results of the research in order to align Croatian framework on economic exploitation of maritime domain with European law.
